Omaha Police Department is reminding the public that celebratory gunfire is not allowed, even during the holiday season.
Celebratory gunfire has become a problem in a lot of cities, but it can have deadly consequences. What comes up must come down, so whenever bullets are discharged, it greatly increases the chances of injury and death.
There is a zero-tolerance policy in the city of Omaha for illegal gun use, and those who violate these laws will be arrested.
Police also wanted to remind the community that fireworks can be discharged from 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 until 1 a.m. on Jan. 1.
Omaha’s fireworks ordinance states that you must be 16 years or older to possess or discharge fireworks. Juveniles between the ages of 12-15 can discharge them with the supervision of an adult 19 years or older.
Citations will be given out to those who violate the ordinance.
