Texas-based Schulman Theatres is bringing one of its signature entertainment venues, Film Alley, to Longview.
While the specific location for the venue wasn’t named in the announcement Jan. 3, the company said the 45,000-square-foot facility will include a movie theatre, duckpin bowling, arcade, restaurant and bar.
A company representative said the company isn’t ready to announce the location because Schulman is still working on “closing” on the property, but 45,000 square feet is about the size of the Regal Longview theater that closed this past summer. When the theater at 3070 N. Eastman Road closed, it left Longview with one movie theater, the AMC Longview 10, on Tall Pines Avenue behind Longview Mall. Schulman has not filed for local building permits associated with the former Regal.
The new entertainment venue in Longview is expected to open in the fourth quarter of this year, the company said.
“We are so excited to become a part of the community,” Jacob Schulman said in a prepared statement. Schulman is vice president of Schulman Theatres, which includes the company’s Film Alley and City Lights brands.
Schulman Theatres was founded in 1926 when Abraham and Morris Schulman moved to Bryan and purchased the Dixie and Queen theaters, the company website says.
“Our value has always been, and will remain, focused on family and community as we continue to serve customers with invaluable experiences and connections through film and celebration,” says information on the company website, https://schulmantheatres.com.
The company describes Film Alley as “a family-friendly movie entertainment center owned by Schulman Theatres. Our locations feature movies, bowling, arcade and a scratch kitchen where we prepare delicious food for the whole family!”
Film Alley has locations in Weatherford, Terrell, Bastrop and Georgetown.
The company’s City Lights brands consists of traditional theaters in Mount Pleasant and Palestine.
