The World Golf Awards awarded Scotland the top golf destination in the world.

In the Middle Eastern city of Abu Dhabi, Scotland has been recognized as the world's top golf destination. Scotland not only won the title of best golf destination in the world,

but also best golf destination in Europe.This is the first time the birthplace of golf has won both of these honors at the illustrious awards ceremony for the activity.

The 150th Open was held in July at St. Andrews in Fife, one of Scotland's more than 550 golf courses.In addition, the nation played host to the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship,

AIG Women's Open, Trust Golf Women's Scottish Open, and The Senior Open Presented by Rolex.The chief executive of VisitScotland said in a statement: "These awards are a terrific

acknowledgement for all the people who work so hard to grow and strengthen our image as the Home of Golf and a fitting end to an extremely special year for golf in Scotland.

"I'd like to offer our congratulations to everyone, as well as the larger travel and hospitality and events businesses and their suppliers.Every year, we welcome hundreds

Scotland is a popular destination on the bucket lists of most golfers worldwide, according to Dermot Synnott, head of global partnerships for the World Golf Awards.
