Against the Golden State Warriors, Luka Doncic creates history.

With 40 points, Luka has now matched Dirk Nowitzki. On Tuesday night, the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Golden State Warriors in a nail-biting victory, and Luka Doncic

created some history. Doncic moved into a tie with Dirk Nowitzki for the second-most 40-point games in Dallas Mavericks history after recording his 20th career 40-point game.

Doncic is already inching closer to breaking that record, and given how young he is, he will do so by the time his Mavericks career is up. He outscored the game's top

point guard Steph Curry, who had 32 points overall, and finished with 41 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds. This season, Doncic has excelled, but his Mavericks teammates

have not. Now that their record is even, the Mavericks are hoping that a significant victory like this will signal the beginning of a run of successful play. Dallas hopes

to compete in the West and will need to put on more performances like this one moving ahead, especially after playing the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals last season.

This was a very winnable game for the Warriors. They made some errors in the final minutes that proved costly, but Klay Thompson still had a clear shot at a game-tying

three with 0.1 seconds left. Thompson's three-point attempt ultimately fell short, and the Warriors lost to the Mavericks 116-113 in the end.

When the Warriors take on the Bulls on Friday, they will try to recover.
